Onofriichuk wins gold at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships

The Kyiv-born gymnast performed her routine to Michael Jackson's "Thriller." The judges awarded her 8.300 points for artistry and 14.100 for difficulty.

Onofriichuk's closest rival was Italy's Sofia Raffaeli, who finished with 30.500 points. Germany's Darja Varfolomeev won bronze with 30.400.

Thus, Ukraine won its first gold medal at this year's World Championships. For Onofriichuk, this is also her first world title.

Last year in Rio de Janeiro, she won two bronze medals. The last time a Ukrainian won individual gold at the World Championships was in 2013, when Hanna Rizatdinova also won the hoop event.

Onofriichuk's competition on August 16 is not over yet. At 16:10, she will compete in the clubs final. Ukraine's team will also have another chance at a medal at 15:00, when it competes in the event with three hoops and two pairs of clubs.

What is known about Taіsiia Onofriichuk's achievements

It is worth recalling that Taіsiia Onofriichuk won a gold medal in the hoop event at the European Cup in rhythmic gymnastics in Azerbaijan's capital, Baku.

It was also reported that at the Rhythmic Gymnastics Grand Prix in Marbella, Ukrainian gymnast Taіsiia Onofriichuk took first place in the all-around, scoring 115.500 points. And at the Grand Prix tournament in the French city of Thiais, Onofriichuk won the overall title.

In total, during the 2025 season, Onofriichuk won 12 medals: four gold, six silver and two bronze. That year was already historic for her: at the European Championships, she won Ukraine's first gold in the individual all-around in 28 years, and also reached the podium three times in individual events.

In addition, Taіsiia Onofriichuk finished the first World Cup stage in Bulgaria with a record result, winning four gold medals — in the all-around and three individual events.
