Lithuania commits €7 mln to rebuild Ukraine's energy, infrastructure, and local communities

The financing covers:

The biggest share of the package — 4 million euros — will fund the next phase of a program to boost energy security at Ukrainian schools and hospitals. The project will install solar panels, inverters, and battery storage systems at at least 25 sites. Funding comes from Lithuania's state-owned energy company Ignitis Group, and the work is expected to continue for 24 months.

An additional 1 million will be provided as national co-financing for the Ukraine Transport Support Fund. The goal is to restore, repair, and maintain civilian transport infrastructure damaged by the war.

The fund focuses on small and medium-sized projects addressing Ukraine's most urgent needs that are not covered by other international funds. The project duration is 12 months.

Another 1 million euros will support a partnership program between Lithuanian and Ukrainian municipalities. The initiative aims to strengthen local administrative capacity, improve public services, support planning in war-affected areas, assist child rehabilitation, and help Ukrainian local authorities prepare for EU funding and other donor assistance. The project will last 24 months.

The remaining 1 million will be directed to the Create Ukraine program, which encourages young Ukrainian professionals to return from abroad and take positions in central government bodies, supporting reconstruction and Ukraine's integration. The program aims to bring back 25 young professionals by 2027 and will run for 20 months.
