The Ukrainian Air Force warned residents to take shelter immediately and stay there until the all-clear. "Ballistic missile threat from the north," the air force said.
The military lifted the alert at 12:58 a.m., but issued another warning at 1:22 a.m. Minutes later, the Air Force reported multiple ballistic missiles heading toward Kyiv and the Poltava region. At 1:24 a.m., powerful explosions shook the capital.
At 4:03 a.m., the Kyiv City Military Administration warned of an incoming drone attack.
"Air raid sirens are sounding in Kyiv because of the threat of enemy attack drones. Residents are urged to move to shelters and remain there until the alert is lifted," the administration said.
Minutes later, the military reported Russian drones near Boryspil moving toward Kyiv. By 4:30 a.m., air defenses were engaging targets over the capital.
At roughly the same time, local media reported explosions in Poltava and Sumy. The Air Force tracked groups of drones heading toward Poltava, while Russian forces launched guided aerial bombs at the Sumy region.

"Overnight, the enemy struck two districts of the region. In the Poltava district, an industrial enterprise and a private business were attacked. Tech equipment and an administrative building were damaged. One person was injured and hospitalized," said administration head Vitalii Diakivnych.
According to Diakivnych, Russian drones also hit a private home and an energy facility in the Poltava district. The strike caused power outages.
In the Myrhorod district, falling drone debris damaged warehouses. "Crews from the Poltavaoblenergo utility are working to restore electricity supplies," Diakivnych said.
Sumy region
