Media: G7 countries to produce long-range missiles in Ukraine

G7 countries will license not only air defence systems for production in Ukraine, but also weapons for long-range strikes.

As reported by French newspaper Le Parisien, in the joint statement issued after the summit in Évian, G7 leaders said they are ready to grant Ukraine licences to manufacture interceptor missiles directly on Ukrainian territory. The source said this will also include the possibility of producing long-range missiles.

"We will manufacture under licence not only air defence systems, but also deep-strike capabilities," the diplomatic source said on the sidelines of the G7 summit.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz told journalists that US companies will be able to grant licences to European manufacturers for weapons production in Ukraine.

"We are all producing too little at the moment, and this can be addressed by granting licences to companies that have manufacturing capacity, including European and Ukrainian companies," he said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during talks with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit, they discussed obtaining licences to produce anti-ballistic systems and missiles.

In early June, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is working with European and US partners to launch production in European countries of air defence systems capable of intercepting ballistic missiles.
