French presidential candidate Le Pen declares readiness to visit Ukraine

Previously, the Ukrainian president noted that Le Pen "lacks command of certain details" after she promised to halt aid to Ukraine.

He also emphasized that Ukraine's battlefield experience benefits French defense companies, meaning support for Kyiv can prove mutually beneficial for both nations.

In response, Le Pen stated that she "personally has nothing against Mr. Zelenskyi" and expressed readiness to discuss French aid to Ukraine with him "whenever he wishes."

When asked directly about a potential trip to Ukraine, the politician answered that she would agree "if invited."

BackgroundPreviously, Le Pen repeatedly spoke out against continuing aid to Ukraine. She argued that France could no longer provide Kyiv with financial assistance at the levels seen previously, though it could continue to transfer military equipment and train Ukrainian service members. The politician emphasized that such an approach does not represent an "act of hostility" toward Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Le Pen's critics have long suggested that her restrained support for Kyiv reflects Kremlin sympathies among certain members of her party. Furthermore, she displays no hostility toward Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin. The prospective candidate for the French presidency informed Politico that she supports US President Donald Trump's decision to invite Putin to the G20 summit in Miami in December.

Earlier, on September 20, National Rally leader Marine Le Pen and party chairman Jordan Bardella issued a joint statement emphasizing that Russian "intimidation" will not influence French policy. That statement followed the Kremlin's order to seize Russian subsidiaries of several major French companies, as well as a subsidiary of Swiss-based Nestlé.
