“Putin Is A Butcher”: Republican Kennedy Criticizes Trump’s Deal With Putin On Diesel Fuel Purchases
The agreement by the Donald Trump administration, linked to easing oil sanctions against Russia, has drawn criticism not only among Democrats but also within the ranks of the Republican Party. Senators have come out against the deal with Moscow and against Trump’s statement that Ukraine supposedly needs a new leader, UATV English reports, citing The Hill.
Republican Senator Michael McCaul stated that lifting oil sanctions would finance the Kremlin’s war machine and contribute to further violence and destruction.
His fellow party member John Kennedy emphasized that he isn’t opposed to fuel imports, but considers it unacceptable to buy it from Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
“Putin is a butcher. He’s the executioner of his own people and the executioner of the good people of Ukraine. He will never become our friend. So the president is doing everything in his power to lower diesel fuel prices. But you know what would really lower prices for it? Ending the war in Iran,” Republican Senator John Kennedy stated.
It was previously reported that White House head Donald Trump announced an immediate energy truce between Ukraine and Russia.
