United to win: Ukraine to receive more Storm Shadow missiles from UK ahead of winter

According to the publication, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi discussed replenishing Ukraine's Storm Shadow stockpiles during their meeting in London on October 14.

Sources told Bloomberg that the British side views Ukraine's deployment of long-range weapons against Russian targets involved in strikes on civilians and civilian infrastructure as a measure of defense.

Escalating Russian attacks were a key factor in the decision. Sources noted that over recent weeks, Russia has increased production of jet-powered drones to intensify strikes across Ukraine.

Consequently, the British government considers it necessary for Kyiv to possess the capabilities to counter these actions.

According to Bloomberg's sources, Great Britain does not believe Ukraine should cease strikes on Russian territory while Moscow refuses to halt similar actions.

At the same time, the British government declined to comment on the additional missile shipments. London also refrains from disclosing the total number of Storm Shadow missiles provided to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war and does not routinely announce such deliveries.

BackgroundAs reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi visited Great Britain on October 14. During an audience with King Charles III, the head of state thanked the monarch for the unwavering support of Ukraine.

Furthermore, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham assured President Volodymyr Zelenskyi during their meeting that British support for Ukraine will remain steadfast. He also announced the acceleration of deliveries of British-made air defense systems intended for rapid deployment.

It should be noted that reports in June of this year indicated that Great Britain is developing cheaper long-range missiles for Ukraine, produced without American components. The new weaponry is expected to reach the front line within a year. According to released specifications, the new British systems will carry a warhead weighing at least 225 kilograms and strike targets at distances exceeding 500 kilometers.
