Japan Has Provided Ukraine With $20 Billion In Aid Since Start Of War — Zelenskyy
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Japan has been providing Ukraine with aid whose scale ranks among the largest of any country.
In particular, Ukraine has received around $20 billion for energy support and humanitarian programs. The head of state stated this while speaking with journalists, UATV English reports.
“We indeed met earlier with the prime minister [Sanae Takaichi, ed.] in France in the G7 format. We also had a bilateral phone call. That was our first meeting. I want to thank the prime minister, thank the people of Japan for supporting us from the start of the war, and very strong support at that. And support totaling around $20 billion has been allocated since the start of the war. One of the largest amounts of support in the world, by the way,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
He added that this concerns support for energy, especially during winter, as well as humanitarian support under various programs.
“We will continue working in this direction. We’re very grateful to the people of Japan, we’ll never forget this,” the president added.
As previously reported, on September 23, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi discussed support for Ukraine during the full-scale war and further steps for cooperation.
