United to win: Mykolaiv receives specialized trucks from international partners to restore infrastructure
What is the solution?
"Mykolaiv has received four new JAC utility trucks from international partners.
The vehicles will be handed over to the municipal enterprises Mykolaiv Parks and DEZ Pilot to carry out daily urban maintenance and restore the city's infrastructure," the statement said.
How does it work?
The delivery was made possible through the Partnership for the Security and Resilience of Communities in Mykolaiv, Ukraine project. It is implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) under the Ukrainian Transition Program, with financial support from the Government of Denmark.
The vehicles were personally handed over to the city by Anna Maria Madsen, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Ukraine, and Victor Jørgen Blickfeldt, Head of the Danish Embassy Office in Mykolaiv.
This was Anna Maria Madsen's first visit to the city. She expressed hope that the trucks would be useful to Mykolaiv.
"I'm visiting Mykolaiv for the first time. I hope these trucks will come in handy," Madsen said.
The new vehicles are equipped with:
This configuration allows the trucks to transport a repair crew, along with the necessary tools and materials, to a work site at the same time.
The trucks are powered by diesel engines and have a payload capacity of 1.35 tonnes. Their use is expected to help municipal services respond more quickly when carrying out urban maintenance and keeping the city's infrastructure in good condition.
Victor Jørgen Blickfeldt emphasised that the handover of the trucks is part of the partnership with the city and aims to support the work of municipal enterprises.
"We are very pleased to be able to provide this equipment at the city's request to support municipal enterprises and their work in Mykolaiv. This is another sign of our close cooperation with the city, and I sincerely hope that we will continue working together in the same spirit," Blickfeldt said.
Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych thanked the international partners for their continued support for the city community.
As previously reported, despite extensive destruction, Ukraine has endured and continues to restore housing, social infrastructure and energy supplies even during the war. Denmark, which has taken responsibility for supporting the reconstruction of the Mykolaiv region, is one of the countries playing a key role in these efforts. Rubryka explains how Denmark is helping Mykolaiv and how its ongoing support and partnership with the region can serve as an example for other allies and regions of Ukraine.
It was also reported that a ceremony marking the opening of the Office of the Embassy of Denmark in Ukraine took place in Mykolaiv, attended by the foreign ministers of Ukraine and Denmark.
The Mykolaiv region previously signed a memorandum with Denmark on the region's reconstruction. The plans covered not only housing restoration but also the creation of jobs to encourage local residents to return home.
