“The Russians Have Changed Their Tactics, They’re Barbarians and Are Terrorizing Ukrainians 24/7, So We Must Also Change Our Defense Tactics,” — Zelenskyy at Press Conference with Canadian PM Carney
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia has shifted its tactics to terrorize Ukrainian civilians around the clock, forcing Ukraine to adapt its own defensive approach in response, speaking at a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, UATV English reports.
“The Russians have changed their tactics, they’re barbarians and are terrorizing Ukrainians 24/7, so we must also change our defense tactics,” Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian president said Russia is suffering more than 30,000 personnel killed or wounded every month, a toll he cited as evidence of the price Moscow continues to pay for continuing the war.
Zelenskyy thanked Canada for its latest defense package and new energy agreements, noting that 21 Ukrainian pilots are currently training in Canada.
“Our friends are helping us defend ourselves. I thank Canada for the defense package and the energy agreements,” Zelenskyy said.
He said the two sides also reached agreements on sanctions, stressing the importance of speeding up anti-ballistic sanctions against Russia.
“It’s important to speed up anti-ballistic sanctions against Russia. We hope they’ll come into effect as early as October,” Zelenskyy said.
Concluding the press conference, Zelenskyy expressed confidence that Ukraine and its partners would ultimately find a way to stop Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Together we will find a way to stop Putin,” Zelenskyy said.
The remarks come as Zelenskyy continues a bilateral visit to Canada, where he and Carney have also discussed Canada’s participation in the FREYJA anti-ballistic missile program and progress toward a bilateral Drone Deal.
“We understand that during the elections in Russia we won’t see much progress in negotiations, but at the end of September there will be an opportunity to meet with the American team.
“All our global partners are raising the issue of ‘grain’ — Russia is blocking the Black Sea, and we’re doing the same in response. The same goes for energy”, Zelenskyy said.
“Ukraine will solve the issue of jet-powered drones, but that will take time,” Zelenskyy added.
Ukraine already has more than 60 companies working on this.
