US Will Increase Production Of Anti-Ballistic Missiles For Patriot To Protect Ukraine — Zelenskyy
The issue of air defense remains extremely relevant for Ukraine. That’s why Ukraine must strengthen its air defense and develop its own anti-ballistic system. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this today, September 6, at a joint press conference with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, UATV English reports.
“For us, the air defense issue is very relevant, despite the fact that there’s air silence in Kyiv today. But it’s not normal life to depend solely on one person who started this war and continues to terrorize us. That cannot be the case in the modern world,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
The president noted that Ukraine has strengthened its positions on the battlefield, which, he said, allows it to negotiate future talks with the American and Russian sides with greater confidence.
“We’ve strengthened ourselves on the battlefield, and that gives us the ability to be more confident in any format of future discussions with the American and Russian sides. We need to do everything possible for trilateral meetings to happen. We’ll see what Russia agrees to. Unfortunately, it still has a lot of confidence today when it comes to thinking about one format or another,” the head of state said.
At the same time, Zelenskyy named protection against ballistic missiles as one of Ukraine’s weak points.
“Our weak point is anti-ballistic capability. We’ll strengthen it. I’ll have meetings in both Norway and Canada. We need to develop our own, Ukrainian anti-ballistic system,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
He added that, besides this, Ukraine is counting on increased production of anti-ballistic missiles for Patriot systems in the US.
US presidential special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Kyiv following yesterday’s visit to Moscow. At the railway station, they were greeted by an Ukrainian delegation — head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Budanov and his deputy Serhii Kyslytsia, and head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Rustem Umerov. The guests then headed to St. Sophia of Kyiv, where Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Witkoff and Kushner.
