We Must Ensure Russia Cannot Produce More Than 2-4 Ballistic Missiles — Podolyak

A key element of the war for Russia is strikes on the Ukrainian population, on civilian and critical infrastructure. In this connection, Ukraine’s partners — both Americans and Europeans — fully understand the need to close Ukrainian airspace. They are also aware of Ukraine’s shortage of systems and missiles to intercept Russian ballistic missiles. This was stated by Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine (OPU), UATV English reports.

To solve this problem, Kyiv is working with partners across several areas:

But besides protecting Ukraine’s skies, it is also necessary to work toward ensuring that Russia has no ability to produce ballistic missiles at its current volume.

“This concerns, in particular, component manufacturers — European, American, Japanese manufacturers. When their components are supplied to Russia through intermediary countries, through intermediary firms, for missile production, primarily ballistic. The latest European sanctions provide for tougher measures against such intermediaries. That is, the goal is for Russia to be able to produce not 30-50 ballistic missiles a month, but no more than 2-4 missiles. This will significantly affect Russia’s ability to wage war,” Podolyak noted.

But it is also necessary to develop Ukraine’s own ballistic capability and use it to strike back at Russia.

“It’s obvious that there are no longer places on Russian territory that Ukraine couldn’t reach. And this needs to be used. But this is a matter of additional investment, additional production. It’s necessary to establish production of our own ballistics, because this will devastate Russian morale. Expanding the scale of long-range strikes — that’s the main task today. Because war on Russian territory is the only argument that will truly bring this war to an end,” the OPU adviser summarized.

It should be recalled that the Ukrainian company Fire Point is developing two ballistic missiles — the FP-7 and FP-9. Preparations for combat launches are already underway, set to begin in the fall.
