Zelenskyi and UAE president discuss maritime security and expanding life-saving capabilities

Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the UAE President for his full understanding of the situation and support for efforts to achieve peace and greater security.

"Ukraine always helps those who help us. This year, Ukrainians have made a significant contribution to the security of our partners in the Gulf region. Now, we discussed how the UAE can help us in Europe, particularly in the Black Sea region. This concerns food security, the security of maritime routes, and expanding our ability to protect lives," Volodymyr Zelenskyi said.

The two presidents also discussed bilateral projects in various fields and agreed to continue their cooperation to ensure they are successfully implemented.

As Rubryka previously reported, over the past few days, Russian forces have attacked a number of civilian cargo vessels in the Black Sea, effectively blocking traffic through Ukraine's maritime corridor. Due to the threat to global food security, Ukraine requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.

On July 22, not a single vessel passed through the maritime corridor. The Ukrainian government described this as "deliberate economic and humanitarian terror" carried out at the height of the harvest season.

Against this backdrop, Ukraine convened an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, calling on all countries, particularly those "directly affected," to demand that Russia stop its attacks on civilian shipping.
