Japanese components found in nearly 90% of Russia's precision weapons, envoy says
According to Vlasiuk, most of the identified parts are electronic components originally sold for civilian use in Japan.
He called for tighter export controls, saying there are concerns that consumer goods are being routed through third countries before entering Russia's military supply chain.
Kyodo News noted that Russia appears to rely heavily on dual-use and commercially available products, which are harder to track and restrict.
Journalists contacted 13 Japanese companies whose components the investigation found in Russian missiles and drones.
The remaining six companies did not respond to requests for comment.
Foreign components in Russian weapons
As Rubryka previously reported, Russia used missiles and drones containing thousands of foreign-made components from the United States, China, Taiwan, Japan, Germany, and other countries.
In response, Ukraine's Defense Intelligence (HUR), together with the War & Sanctions portal, has been tracing supply chains to strengthen sanctions enforcement.

In April 2025, Ukraine also launched a dedicated digital database of domestically produced components to speed up weapons development and expand defense manufacturing.
