United to win: Ukraine and Germany work to speed up deliveries of air defense ammunition

The support focuses on PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems, IRIS-T ammunition, and the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) mechanism.

The key topic of the conversation between Mykhailo Fedorov and Boris Pistorius was support for the supply of PAC-3 missiles through the JUMPSTART mechanism. Mykhailo Fedorov noted that Germany's leadership is important for securing these munitions quickly from partners. The two sides also reviewed opportunities to direct already announced partner funding to critical areas of support.

The Defense Ministry also said Ukraine is successfully following the defense strategy it presented to its partners. The Defense Forces are disrupting Russian logistics and conducting deep-strike attacks against targets that weaken the aggressor's military potential.

Ukraine now has a window of opportunity for the next six to eight months. This is a period when the Defense Forces hold the initiative and have the chance to bring the war to an end through a just peace, with Ukraine in a strong position.

That is why it is important to quickly direct support to the areas that have the greatest impact:

The parties separately discussed accelerating deliveries of IRIS-T ammunition and developing the anti-ballistic project. They also focused on prospects for scaling up drone-assault units. Germany was the first to support this area, which is already strengthening Ukrainian operations.

Mykhailo Fedorov thanked Germany for its high-quality assistance, leadership, and readiness to coordinate partners' efforts in support of Ukraine.

Background

It should be noted that Germany plans to join Ukraine's Brave1 platform and support the development of drones with a range of up to 1,500 kilometers, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced during a press conference with Ukrainian Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.

Moreover, Ukraine is expected to receive more than 30 PAC-3 interceptor missiles for its Patriot air defense systems in the coming weeks. The missiles have been sourced from European allies through an initiative led by the German Defense Minister.
