United to win: Poland proposes joint Patriot missile production with US and Ukraine on its territory

According to the official, she presented the proposal during meetings with representatives of the Pentagon and the US Department of State.

She explained that the initiative came in response to a statement by Donald Trump, who said during the NATO summit that he was ready to consider producing components for Patriot systems in cooperation with Ukraine.

The deputy minister noted that Patriot missiles are now among the most sought-after weapons in the world. That is why Poland wants to join the joint production.

During the talks, the Polish side also presented arguments in favor of creating a regional service center in Poland to maintain Patriot systems. According to Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, Washington views Poland's defense industry development and its strategic location on NATO's eastern flank positively.

The parties paid separate attention to expanding the US military presence in Poland. Sobkowiak-Czarnecka said the United States has already created a special working group to prepare the project. According to her, a similar unit is also operating within Poland's Ministry of National Defense.

In addition, the official expressed hope that an agreement would be signed in the coming weeks to open a new $4 billion US credit line for Poland under the Foreign Military Financing program. The funds are expected to be used to purchase American weapons.

"The introduction of the European SAFE mechanism does not prevent the purchase of US military equipment. According to her, both instruments can complement each other, helping strengthen the defense capabilities of Poland and NATO's entire eastern flank," Sobkowiak-Czarnecka stressed.

Background

It should be noted that on July 9, Zelenskyi said Ukraine would receive a new aid package from the United States in the coming days, including additional PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems.

On July 13, during a speech in Paris at a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, the Ukrainian leader confirmed that he and President Trump had reached an important agreement on licenses for the production of Patriot systems. He called the agreement historic.

On July 22, Volodymyr Zelenskyi said Ukraine and the United States had already begun discussing the joint production of interceptor missiles for Patriot surface-to-air missile systems.
