Three more people were injured, two of them were taken to hospital. "According to preliminary data, the cause was a violation of technological processes," wrote the head of the region in his Telegram channel. The governor did not specify the name of the enterprise where the accident occurred. At the same time, the Tambov Solid Sign publication writes that it is about the Tambov gunpowder plant (part of Rostec), which is located in Kotovsk and is one of the largest in Russia. The enterprise, according to open sources, produces pyroxylin powders for all types of weapons and land, sea and aviation artillery systems, producing more than 200 types of products for military and civilian use.The plant has been targeted by Ukrainian troops at least five times since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. The last two AFU drone raids took place in June and May 2025. In particular, on the night of June 11, during a massive drone attack on the Tambov region "as a result of the crash of one of the downed UAVs" there was a fire, Pervyshov reported. Baza and Mash wrote that a gunpowder factory in Kotovsk came under attack. According to Astra and "VCHK-OGPU", one of the ammunition depots caught fire. Before that, the enterprise was raided by Ukrainian drones on May 29. Then a fire broke out on the roof of one of the warehouses, without casualties. Also raids on the plant took place in January this year, in July 2024 and in November 2023. The plant was not significantly damaged and continued to produce goods. The Defense Ministry did not report the destruction of Ukrainian drones in the Tambov region in its July 3 report (a total of 69 targets were shot down over Russian regions). However, Rosaviatsia reported at night about temporary restrictions on receiving and dispatching aircraft at Tambov airport. After the fire at the plant, a criminal case was opened for violation of industrial safety requirements of hazardous production facilities, which caused the death of two or more persons by negligence (part 3, article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the press service of the Tambov Region Department of the Investigative Committee reported. An investigation team is working at the plant.PATREONSupport the website Write your comment 2 You can support the website Charter97.orgMULTI-CURRENCY ACCOUNT FOR ASSISTANCE:Bank's name: Bank Millennium S.A.Address: ul.
