The bicycles will be handed over by the city council of Amsterdam, which were left by the owners and stored in the city storage. This was announced by the Netherlands Foundation Zeilen van Vrijheid.
Zeilen van Vrijheid is pleased to announce our partnership with the municipality of Amsterdam to ship 2000 uncollected bikes to Ukraine. The decision to give us access to the city's bike storage and allow us to pick up bikes from there was taken by the city council, the statement said.
Another part of the bicycles in the amount of 300 pieces was specially purchased by the fund for transfer to Ukraine.
The first batches of bicycles provided from Amsterdam will be distributed among the local communities of Kyiv, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk and Chernihiv regions of Ukraine. Later, more communities and volunteer organizations will join the program.
