Ukraine and Germany discuss speeding up Patriot missile deliveries

According to the Office of the President, they discussed speeding up deliveries of PAC-2 missiles for Patriot air defense systems, as well as weapons for IRIS-T systems and F-16 fighter jets, Rubryka reports.

Zelenskyi briefed Pistorius on Russian attacks targeting critical infrastructure across virtually every region of Ukraine. He said Russia was striking Ukraine's energy infrastructure heavily every day, and that ballistic missile attacks were especially difficult to counter because Ukraine lacks enough Patriot interceptors.

"We need to find new ways to strengthen our defenses and protect lives. We have a major contract to purchase German-made PAC-2 missiles over the next two years. We're working to speed up deliveries. That would make a big difference for Ukrainians as they face this winter. German leadership has helped save thousands upon thousands of lives on many occasions," Zelenskyi said.

The president and defense minister agreed that their teams would work to expedite deliveries and discuss other issues, including IRIS-T systems and ammunition for F-16s.

Zelenskyi thanked German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Pistorius, and the people of Germany for their continued support for Ukraine's defense.

On November 3, a Ukrainian delegation led by Zelenskyi arrived in Berlin. During the visit, Zelenskyi met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

The leaders discussed support packages and the measures Ukraine needs. Merz assured Zelenskyi that Germany would provide Ukraine with a winter support package. They also discussed further air defense assistance, including deliveries of PAC-2, PAC-3, and IRIS-T missiles.

Zelenskyi is also set to attend this year's Berlin Security Conference. Coordinating with partners will be a key part of the visit.
