Ukraine's postal service marks 35 years of Ukraine's state border with new stamp issue
It features postage stamps and envelopes. The launch took place as part of its Vlasna Marka ("Our Own Stamp") project. Ukrposhta announced the issue on its official website, Rubryka reports.
The ceremonial first-day cancellation of the new stamps took place on November 4 at Kyiv's Main Post Office. Ukrposhta CEO Ihor Smilianskyi and Serhii Serdiuk, deputy head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, attended the event.
"Ukraine's borders stretch for nearly 7,000 kilometers. To mark the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the first laws on Ukraine's state border and border troops, Ukrposhta has unveiled a themed stamp issue as part of its Vlasna Marka project," the company said.
The stamps feature:
Each design highlights a different aspect of the work done by service members who guard Ukraine's state border.
The illustrated envelope features a border marker bearing Ukraine's coat of arms, service members working with technical equipment, and an armored vehicle. The stamp issue uses actual photos of Ukrainian border guards. The State Border Guard Service designed the stamps and envelopes.
During the launch, Smilianskyi stressed the historical importance of Ukraine's border and said he was confident the country would restore its full length.
"The Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk, adopted in 1710, stated that 'every state is secured by the inviolable integrity of its borders.' Ukraine is going through a difficult time, but in our hearts and in our laws, Ukraine's border will always measure 6,992.982 kilometers. And one day, it will be restored to that full length. We congratulate all border guards on their holiday and thank them for their service," Smilianskyi said.
Ukrposhta said the new issue comes in two versions:
Starting November 4, customers can also buy the illustrated stamped envelope "And on the Renewed Earth…" through the Ukrposhta Market online store. It bears a special postmark reading "35 Years of Ukraine's State Border."
At the ceremony, Serdiuk stressed that the state border is more than a territorial boundary: it is a symbol of the country's independence and sovereignty.
"We have gathered today to mark this anniversary with a special stamp cancellation. The issue is dedicated to Ukraine's border, which took shape alongside independence and changed as the country evolved. Now it remains one of the front lines in the fight for its future. Today, Ukraine is not only defending its border during a full-scale war but also continuing its integration into Europe's security framework," Serdiuk said.
November 4 marked the 35th anniversary of the Ukrainian parliament's adoption of the laws "On the State Border of Ukraine" and "On the Border Troops of Ukraine." These laws laid the legal foundation for establishing and protecting the borders of independent Ukraine.
On September 17, Rescue Workers' Day, Ukrposhta unveiled a stamp issue titled "Heroic Professions. Brave Enough to Save", honoring those who work at the sites of Russian attacks and rescue people under the threat of follow-up strikes.
Ukrposhta also released a new stamp titled "Trident. Honor", dedicated to the strength, courage, and continuity of Ukraine's struggle.
