Russia launches one of its largest attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure – Ukrenergo
According to Ukraine's national grid operator Ukrenergo, the strikes have made the situation across the country's power grid even worse, Rubryka reports.
"Over the past 24 hours alone, the enemy has deliberately attacked energy facilities more than 20 times, using an unprecedented number of weapons. The strikes have caused major damage to energy infrastructure," the company said.
As of 4:45 p.m., emergency power cuts were in place in several regions, including Kyiv. Thousands of energy workers have been working since overnight to restore electricity.
Ukrenergo said critical infrastructure will be reconnected first.
"All services are working closely together to stabilize the situation as quickly as possible," the company said.
As Rubryka reported earlier, Russian forces struck three DTEK thermal power plants with dozens of missiles and drones overnight on November 3 and into the morning. The strikes caused heavy damage: all three plants stopped generating electricity.
Power outages have also disrupted water supplies in Kyiv. The city's main water facilities lost power. Utility workers and energy crews are working to restore electricity.
Overall, Russia attacked Ukraine overnight on November 3 with 289 attack drones, including Shahed drones and decoys, as well as ballistic and cruise missiles. Ukraine's air defenses downed most of the incoming targets.
