Solutions from Ukraine: Digital platform Strichka presents study on Ukraine's communication with Ukrainians abroad

According to UNHCR data, more than 5.7 million Ukrainians have left the country since the start of the full-scale invasion. The war has significantly exacerbated Ukraine's existing demographic crisis caused by an aging population.
Ukraine's population declines by approximately 800,000 people annually. Among them, 500,000 are individuals who left and have not returned.
Ukraine needs to develop a demographic strategy that could improve the situation. Strichka believes that one essential component of this strategy must be a plan to maintain high-quality connections between Ukrainians and Ukraine, even if immediate return is not possible.
Researchers highlighted six main conclusions:
Strichka identified the absence of a single institutional owner for state communication with Ukrainians abroad as the primary issue to be resolved. Strichka emphasizes the vital importance of establishing and maintaining structured contact between Ukraine and its citizens overseas.
At the conclusion of each interview, respondents shared ideas to improve state-level interaction. They proposed solutions covering institutional creation, improved dialogue formats, digital tools, and repatriation mechanisms.
