Ukraine’s EU Accession Discussed In Brussels: Lithuania Calls For Speeding Up Negotiations
Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Vsevolod Chentsov held a meeting with representatives of European countries in Brussels. Lithuania’s Permanent Representative to the EU Nerijus Aleksiejūnas announced this, UATV English relays.
The meeting took place at the representation’s building. Lithuania will hold the EU presidency starting January 2027.
“This morning I hosted representatives of 27 EU countries at Lithuania’s Permanent Representation to the EU for a discussion with Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Vsevolod Chentsov. The deputy prime minister shared the latest updates on Ukraine’s progress in preparing for EU accession,” Lithuania’s permanent representative to the EU said.
According to him, Lithuania continues to firmly support Ukraine’s European path.
“The EU should open all remaining negotiation clusters as soon as possible, given Ukraine’s merits. Ukraine is Europe, and Ukraine’s accession will make us stronger,” Nerijus Aleksiejūnas emphasized.
It should be recalled that Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, on August 26, following a meeting with European Council President António Costa, spoke about his visit to Ukraine and called for continuing support for Kyiv and pressure on Moscow.
