Ukraine Won’t Trade Territories, And Concessions To Russia Will Only Delay A New War — Zelenskyy At Yalta European Strategy Meeting

Ukraine will not trade its territories for a temporary lull, since any concessions to Russia will only delay a new, even more brutal wave of aggression. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during his remarks at the Yalta European Strategy meeting, UATV English reports.

The head of the Ukrainian state also called on international partners to provide sufficient numbers of modern air defense systems, combat aircraft, and long-range weaponry. According to him, it’s precisely joint protection of the skies and the ability to strike back that will force Russia to seek genuine peace.

“It’s very important today not to waste time and to ensure maximum protection of our state every day. Above all, this means air defense, ammunition, financing for scarce American missiles for Patriot systems, as well as AIM missiles — both for F-16s and for NASAMS systems. All these issues are very relevant, unfortunately, due to Russia’s intensification of military activity. But nevertheless, there are positive things we’re doing besides the air defense packages. It’s very important to build our own system for protecting the skies, and not only that. It will be needed both during the war and, without a doubt, after it. Because part of the security guarantees for Ukraine is our own army, the development of our own potential, and partnership ties with Europe, the US, and Canada,” the Ukrainian president emphasized.

It should be recalled that Ukraine and Canada signed a declaration on a 100-year partnership. It covers various areas, including defense and support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The agreement was concluded during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s three-day visit to Canada. Canada also pledged to strengthen energy and defense support for Kyiv, join the Freyja program, and continue sanctions pressure on Russia.
