Ukraine’s Security Service hits Russian Tu-95MS missile-carrying bomber at Engels airbase in Saratov region

The head of state described the operation by Ukraine's Security Service's Alpha unit in Russia's Engels.

As is well known, Engels Air Base is a key base for Russia's strategic aviation. Tu-95MS, Tu-22M3, and Tu-160 bombers are stationed there, and the site also hosts depots with FAB and KAB aerial bombs and cruise missiles.

Aircraft that carry out missile strikes on Ukraine take off from this airfield. The Tu-95MS is a strategic missile-carrying bomber that Russian forces use to launch cruise missiles at Ukraine.

According to the head of state, Ukraine's Defense Forces also struck an oil refinery in Russia's Yaroslavl region during the day. The facility is located about 1,000 kilometers from the front line.

In addition, Ukrainian forces struck Russian targets in the Black Sea.

The president thanked Ukrainian service members for their precision and stressed that strikes on Russian military targets are a response to Russian attacks.

Background

It should be noted that overnight into August 2, Ukrainian forces hit the Saratov oil refinery, the Engels airfield, and an oil depot in Russia's Kaluga region.
