Anya and Roma left Kyiv for the north of the oblast but got into the

The day before the Russian army invaded Ukraine, Anya and Roma from Kyiv wanted to go to Lviv. When the full-scale war broke out, they decided to go to Kyiv oblast: they thought that it would be safer there, and the Russian army would concentrate its efforts on capturing the capital. So the couple went to the village. On the third day of the war, the electricity and water were turned off, and the occupiers soon entered the village. They searched for vodka, broke into houses, looted, and periodically took locals out for execution. Anya and Roma spent 35 days in the occupation and decided to leave. They found a car and drove to Zhytomyr, and from there to Uzhhorod. Exclusively for Babel, Bandy Sholtes recorded the story of Anya and Roma — about bullying, constantly drunk occupiers, and things Anya still doesnʼt want to talk about.
