8 Best Rōz Products for Effortless Hair Days

The best Rōz products make it a little easier to get the kind of hair Mara Roszak, stylist to the stars, has spent more than two decades perfecting: polished but never too polished, soft, touchable, and full of movement. (If you’ve ever saved Emma Stone’s perfectly imperfect waves or Zoe Saldaña’s glossy blowout to your inspo folder, there’s a good chance Roszak had something to do with it.) That signature approach eventually inspired Rōz—pronounced “rose,” a nod to the first syllable of Roszak’s last name—her line that’s built around enhancing your natural hair texture. Unsurprisingly, the formulas speak the same language, pairing nourishing, botanical-forward ingredients (like sunflower oil and rosemary extract) with lightweight textures designed to hydrate, smooth, and style without piling on the weight.

And, as you may already know, the lineup has a few Allure accolades to its name: The shampoo-and-conditioner duo earned a Best of Beauty Award in 2023, while the styling cream joined the winners’ circle in 2025. Newer launches are quickly becoming favorites of their own, including a styling mousse that gives the traditionally crunchy category a much-needed makeover with soft, flexible body and hold. Ahead, consider these the freshly picked standouts from the Rōz lineup.

Allure senior commerce director Shanna Shipin applying the Rōz Foundation Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner

Why we love it: If you’re in the camp that thinks it doesn’t really matter what you shampoo and condition your hair with (doesn’t most of it just flow down the drain, anyway?), Rōz’s Foundation Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner might just change your mind. The 2023 Allure Best of Beauty Award-winning duo makes our tester’s “hair color look richer, curls feel more quenched, and scalp feel fresher” after every wash. Both formulas pair moisture-drawing glycerin with pea peptide and a trio of ceramides to condition and reinforce dry, stressed hair. The conditioner doubles down on softness with avocado oil and glycerin, making it “perfectly balanced,” says Julie Dickson, a hairstylist based in New York City. “It’s lightweight but hydrating; strengthening but never heavy.”

“My goodness, my hair loves this Foundation Shampoo and Conditioner. ‘Foundation’ is the appropriate name for this shampoo and conditioner, because it's truly the anchor to my routine—and I need a strong one because I put my hair through the wringer. I style it in all kinds of ways; naturally curly, blown-out straight, in a slick-back bun—the list goes on, and this duo ensures my hair is as healthy, happy, and hydrated as it can be. It literally makes my hair color richer, my curls more quenched, and my scalp feel fresh. With all the heat-styling I do, the moisture it delivers is key for me. The formulas are free of sulfates, silicones, and parabens, and I love that Rōz effectively balances the science and performance of haircare with a sense of ease and thoughtfulness. And that extends to the packaging, which is an aluminum bottle in the most beautiful shade of mint green meets blue slate. I could see those with thin or fine hair finding the conditioner slightly heavy, but the shampoo would be just fine. On top of it all, the scent is comforting yet fresh—it has zingy citrus and a nectar-like sweet fig, but also has vetiver and frankincense, which just smells like Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles to me (where founder Mara Roszak is from). Yes, I'm admittedly romantic about this product, and it's because it truly loves my hair.” —Shanna Shipin, senior commerce director

Tester feedback from executive beauty director Jenny Bailly

“My long hair is balayaged into a blend of gray and blonde—and it looks and feels so smooth when I use this shampoo and mask. It's not billed as a combo for color-treated hair, but it's gentle and moisturizing, so it certainly fits the bill. The shampoo suds up beautifully (I usually do two), and a dollop of the Foundation Mask is enough for my hair, which is currently almost-bra-strap-length (I comb it through, leave it in for a couple of minutes, then rinse). The citrus-y, fig-y scent is a joy in the morning, and the packaging is chic and understated without trying too hard to be sleek and fancy. I'm not saying I worked my recent bathroom reno around this duo; I'm just saying that light blue does look great in my new shower. If you have finer/thinner hair, you could use the regular conditioner instead of the mask,” —Jenny Bailly, executive beauty director

Allure designer Briana Rengifo applying the Rōz Milk Styling Mousse

Why we love it: When you think of Roszak’s clients—Emma Stone, Cara Delevingne, and Zoe Saldaña, to name a few—crunchy hair isn’t something that comes to mind. So you best believe her first foray into mousse, Rōz Milk Styling Mousse, is nothing like the stiff, sticky formulas you may remember. Made for pretty much every texture, the airy foam gives fine-to-medium hair body without weighing it down, while helping define and smooth thicker waves and curls without sacrificing movement. Glycerin and hyaluronic acid draw in moisture to tame frizz, while pea peptide and biotin further condition and smooth strands. Despite the name, there’s no actual milk here—the moniker is more of a nod to the soft finish.

“I love all of Rōz’s products I think they are never heavy on the air but still powerful enough to work on my wavy hair. The mousse was exactly as expected! Very light and didn’t weight my hair down. Gave me definition without the crunch and smelled amazing, fruity, citrusy? Just so yum! I paired it with the leave in conditioner and found that the combo left my hair super hydrated as well, a lazy wavy girls hair dream.” —Briana Rengifo, designer

Allure contributing commerce editor Deanna Pai applying the Rōz Milk Hair Serum

Allure commerce editorial assistant Hailey Roy applying the Rōz Milk Hair Serum

Why we love it: Frizz and flyaways are a year-round affair, whether you’re basking in the sun on vacation or battling the static that comes with bone-dry winter air. Rōz’s Milk Hair Serum keeps both in check without sacrificing softness or movement. “It’s a three-in-one product that softens, detangles, and helps with frizz,” Lauren Paglionico, a hair colorist based in New York City, previously told Allure. “It’s great for all hair types, but I particularly love how it separates and defines waves and curls without them looking crunchy.” Glycerin and hyaluronic acid draw in and hold onto moisture, while panthenol conditions and smooths. Plus, sunflower and bilberry seed oils give strands a glossy finish. “Unlike a lot of other leave-in conditioners, the texture is silky and absorbs into the hair rather than sitting on top of it, which is great for people who want both softness yet keep their volume,” says Taylor Murphy, a hairstylist based in Raleigh, North Carolina.

"My 2B-ish waves tend to be fine and prone to frizz, so I'm always on the hunt for formulas that can both deliver enough moisture and create definition without adding weight. I just scrunch this in before I air-dry and poof, my hair retains texture and lift, but feels noticeably softer and smoother." —Deanna Pai, contributing commerce editor

Tester feedback from commerce editorial assistant Hailey Roy

“This serum seriously took my blowout to the next level. At first, I didn’t apply enough because I was worried it would leave my hair looking oily after styling. But it was lightweight enough to build upon, leaving my hair looking shiny and feeling moisturized—heavy on the moisturized part, because my hair is super dry. I rarely use heat on my hair, but the way this left my hair feeling so soft, I have no doubt that it, paired with the Santa Lucia Styling Oil, was giving my hair the protection (and hydration) it needed.” —Hailey Roy, commerce editorial assistant

Allure partnerships director Meg Kernahan applying the Rōz Santa Lucia Styling Oil

Shipin applying the Rōz Santa Lucia Styling Oil

Why we love it: What does Jersey City, New Jersey-based hairstylist Kristina Macarro use on her thick, 2C–3A curls every single day? The Rōz Santa Lucia Styling Oil. “The gorgeous scent is the first thing anyone notices,” she says. Its California garden-inspired fragrance gives the Santa Lucia name some context, but smelling good is only part of its charm. “It's also the rare hair oil that does its job without being too greasy—whether you're air-drying or heat-styling—which isn't true of most of the oils on the market,” Macarro adds. The lightweight formula pairs olive, argan, jojoba, sunflower, and safflower oils with smoothing silicones to calm frizz and boost shine. “I use it on hair that needs moisture and polish but can't afford to flatten the texture,” she says. Smooth it through damp hair before styling or use a few drops on dry lengths for an extra hit of shine and polish. Bonus: It also acts as a heat protectant up to 450°F.
