Jessica Chastain Proves Quiet Silver Hair Looks So Good on Redheads

Jessica Chastain is almost as well-known for her long, red hair as she is for her acting chops, having secured a spot as one of the most iconic redheads in Hollywood history. But it seems the Oscar winner may be ready for a little change—one that comes pretty naturally—and she's doing it via one of the biggest hair-color trends of 2026: quiet silver.

As recently as December (see above), the natural redhead was seen at events with uninterrupted, flame-orange hair, just as we've grown to know and love for years. But in the last week or so, Chastain has been subtly leaning into what may or may not turn into a transition to silver strands.

Last week, she was spotted in New York City wearing the cutest round sunglasses and a Moncler jacket. Her shiny, loosely curled hair was parted to the side, revealing what appears to be a hint of gray, expertly blended into her red.

And today, attending the Zimmermann show at Paris Fashion Week alongside Naomi Watts and Lily James, Chastain continued to let her roots appear lighter, with the teensiest silver highlights and without the I-gotta-get-to-the-salon line of demarcation.

“All my clients who are taking this approach tell me that they don’t want the hard line of demarcation, but they’re not quite ready for full-blown gray,” says Chloe Williams, a hairstylist and co-owner of He+Loe Studio in Delray Beach, Florida, who has noticed people are becoming more comfortable with going gray. “You don’t have that stark contrast that you would have with full, permanent coverage.”

Quiet silver looks gorgeous on literally any hair color—just take a look at Salma Hayek and Sarah Jessica Parker, to name just two examples—and L’Oréal Professionnel is even launching a specific technique for quiet silver, called “French blending.” If that doesn't indicate how big this look is about to be, we don't know what does.
