Hailey Bieber's Hair Is Giving Next-Day Prom Updo (Compliment)

I love that messy updos are an acceptable style for fancy functions. Those super-sleek, tight buns and twists that are having a moment give me such a headache, figuratively and literally. I don't want to worry about every hair staying in its tautly pulled, highly hairsprayed place. I want to wear a pretty, elegantly slapdash updo like the one Hailey Bieber just wore to the GQ Men Of The Year event.

Bieber attended the star-studded fete in a sheer, black, backless Gucci halter dress that probably would have gotten her kicked out of the prom, but her hair was ready to party like it was 1999.

Loosely pulled back at the base, the updo is parted in the center with two nearly shoulder-length strands left to frame Bieber's face: truly peak '90s tendrils. But as we come around the back, we get even looser.

The bun has been crafted to look almost as if it's starting to fall apart and transition into a ponytail—kind of like if you fell asleep in your prom updo and woke up to find it's now a disheveled but actually totally chic second style.

Bieber wasn't the only one serving prom updo at the GQ Men Of The Year event. Stars like Delaney Rowe, Anastasia Karanikolaou, and even Olivia Rodrigo wore tendril-accented, '90s-esque styles ranging from a little messy to I-took-a-convertible-to-get-here.

I may not have anything glitzy coming up on my calendar, but I'll be practicing my lived-in updo look just in case something pops up.
