Blake Lively's "Antique Grandma" Manicure Is Exactly What My Nails Need Next
Where do you get your manicure inspiration from? While autumn finds many of us feeling drawn to seasonal shades of oxblood, deep red, and berry, top nail artists get ideas not just from nature, but art, music, fashion, and architecture, too. Blake Lively meanwhile gets her personal inspo from… wallpaper.
Posting a photo of a fresh manicure on her Instagram Stories, Lively showed off oval-shaped nails with mustard, maroon, pink, and green floral art that the actor dubbed "antique grandma wallpaper." She thanked celebrity nail stylist Elle Gerstein for the new design that may have all the hallmarks of old, '70s-style brocade wallpaper, but sure looks good on Lively. Call them granny nails effortlessly elevated for 2022.
In the post, Lively tagged House of Hackney, a British interiors, fashion, and lifestyle brand known for its patterned prints, which suggests that the inspiration came from one of the brand’s wallpapers. While there are a myriad of styles on the House of Hackney site, Vogue believes it’s likely to be the Aurora Wallpaper in Chartreuse, which pays homage to chinoiserie and features a similar color palette.
All this goes to say, next time you hit the nail salon or see your favorite technician, why not think outside of the box?
