Zelenskyy: Ukraine Won’t Give Up Territory to Russia; Kyiv Would Back a G20 Invitation From Trump
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine will not renounce its territories, while acknowledging that Russia wants to take them.
He said this in an interview with CNN Türk, UATV English relays.
He said there had been signs that U.S. President Donald Trump would invite him to the G20 summit and start a process to end the war. If an official invitation arrives, Zelenskyy said, Kyiv will support it.
Zelenskyy also commented on Moscow’s demand for security guarantees, asking who Russia is afraid of. He noted that Russia is putting the issue up for discussion and suggested that all sides are ready to consider it.
He said Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity cannot be discussed without its participation.
As previously reported, Zelenskyy said a trilateral meeting of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia that could produce a real result was potentially possible at the G20 summit in December. In an interview with TSN.Tyzhden, he said Ukraine would not accept neutrality or limits on its armed forces, and that territorial questions could be discussed only at the level of leaders.
