Zelenskyi meets with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in Istanbul

During the meeting, Volodymyr Zelenskyi congratulated His All-Holiness on the 35th anniversary of his enthronement, which will be marked on November 2.

The two also focused on efforts by Ukraine and its international partners to achieve peace. The President briefed the Ecumenical Patriarch on diplomatic efforts, including contacts with the US side.

Zelenskyi also informed Patriarch Bartholomew about the security situation in Ukraine and Russia's systematic attacks on energy infrastructure. They discussed strikes on facilities essential for meeting people's basic needs and ensuring the normal functioning of everyday life.

"Of course, I briefed him on the situation in Ukraine and Russia's ongoing attacks on our energy infrastructure and everything that ensures people can live normal lives," Zelenskyi wrote.

Another topic of the meeting was the humanitarian operation in temporarily Russian-occupied Oleshky. People were successfully rescued from the town. The President emphasized that this was an important humanitarian achievement.

Volodymyr Zelenskyi also noted that Ukraine is counting on international pressure on Russia to help expand similar humanitarian operations and create conditions for further de-escalation efforts.

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi arrived in Istanbul on October 31. His visit included talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and a meeting with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

During his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Volodymyr Zelenskyi discussed restoring and improving the efficiency of the Black Sea grain corridor, food security, and the development of bilateral cooperation. The two sides also agreed to work on joint industrial and economic projects.

In addition, Ukraine expects increased deliveries of generators and other energy equipment from Turkey as early as next week.
