Russia attacks Kyiv with ballistic missiles overnight: fatalities and casualties reported, buildings damaged in four districts
At around 1:00 a.m., the Air Force warned of the threat of Russian ballistic weapon deployment. Officials declared a red alert level in the capital and most regions due to the missile threat.
The Air Force subsequently reported missile movement toward Kyiv and the Kyiv region. A series of explosions echoed across the capital after 1:00 a.m.
Vitalii Klychko reported emergency medical calls in the Solomianskyi district. Reports soon followed regarding medical calls in the Sviatoshynskyi and Podilskyi districts of the capital.
Additionally, the mayor reported falling debris on non-residential land in the Solomianskyi and Podilskyi districts.
In total, authorities reported several waves of ballistic strikes on Kyiv overnight. Multiple explosions echoed across the capital.
Later, Klychko reported that a maternity hospital in the Podilskyi district, near which missile debris fell, sustained damage to its windows and part of its facade. According to preliminary data from the mayor, no casualties occurred inside the medical facility itself.
At the same time, Klychko noted that a fire broke out in the parking area, engulfing four cars. Emergency crews extinguished the fire and discovered the body of a deceased person.
A nearby clinical diagnostic center was also damaged.
In the Dniprovskyi district, debris fell at two additional locations on private residential properties, destroying one house.
In the Darnytskyi district, a missile fragment fell onto the roadway.
At 3:00 a.m., Klychko reported a further increase in the number of casualties.
Reports later indicated that the number of injured rose to six.
By morning, rescuers reported that the casualty toll from the ballistic attack on Kyiv had increased to eight people.
According to the SES, warehouses in the Solomianskyi district were partially destroyed, and the fire spread to the basements. Paramedics hospitalized three injured individuals.
In the Podilskyi district, Russian forces struck near a maternity hospital, causing a fire in the parking area.
At another location in the same district, a single-story non-residential building caught fire.
In the Dniprovskyi district, the attack damaged a three-story administrative building, with one person reported injured.
At another location, the strike destroyed a private house, where emergency personnel rescued one person. Two neighboring houses were also damaged.
Background
As Rubryka reported, the Center for Countering Disinformation warned the previous day that Russia was preparing a new ballistic missile strike against Ukraine.
On September 23, Russian forces attacked Kyiv, killing at least two people, while the total number of injured later rose to 45.
