Russian attack on Kyiv injures eight, damages homes in two districts, and sparks fire in nine-story apartment building
At 3:19 a.m., Ukraine's Air Force reported that a jet-powered drone was passing Ukrainka and heading toward Kyiv. Minutes later, explosions rang out over the capital.
Reports later emerged of a fire in a nine-story apartment building in the Dniprovskyi district. According to emergency responders, the Russian attack set the building's facade ablaze from the first through the fifth floors, along with an apartment on the second floor.
Local social media channels shared footage of the fire. The images showed an intense blaze engulfing several floors of the building, including balconies.
Authorities lifted the air raid alert in the capital at 4 a.m. Reports also emerged of damage in the Obolonskyi district. There, a fire broke out in a single-story warehouse. Preliminary reports indicated no injuries at that location.
Most of the injuries occurred in the Dniprovskyi district, where the apartment building caught fire. As of 5:30 a.m., eight people had been reported injured.
The injured included a 64-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman. Both suffered burns and were hospitalized.
A 23-year-old woman sustained a shrapnel wound. Medics treated five other people without hospitalizing them.
Emergency responders rescued seven people while dealing with the aftermath of the attack. They handed another seven people over to ambulance crews for further care.

The Russian attack also caused damage in the Kyiv region. A Russian strike overnight sparked a fire at warehouses in the Bucha district.
Russian forces struck again as firefighters battled the blaze. Despite the second strike, emergency responders continued their work at the scene.

As previously reported, Russian forces attacked Kyiv with jet-powered drones on the evening of September 10. The attack targeted civilian infrastructure.
The previous large-scale drone attack on Kyiv took place on the morning of September 9. That attack affected several districts of the capital.
