Ukraine allocates over €300,000 of international aid to equip canteens in frontline schools
According to him, the assistance will cover schools in six regions:
The funding will help improve food preparation conditions and meal services for primary school pupils, particularly in communities near the front line.
"The funding is fully covered by international assistance and requires no additional expenditure from the state or local budgets. We are grateful to our international partners for supporting this area," the prime minister said.
According to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the funds will be transferred to local budgets as a subvention to purchase equipment, utensils and supplies for school canteens. This will help communities improve the quality of school meals using international assistance secured earlier.
"During the full-scale war, school meals mean daily support for families and an opportunity to provide pupils with better learning conditions. This is particularly important for border and frontline communities that operate in challenging security conditions every day. I thank our partners at the UN World Food Programme for their continued support and cooperation. Together, we are improving school meal provision and, more importantly, helping foster healthy eating habits among generations of Ukrainian children," said Andrii Butenko, Ukraine's Minister of Education and Science.
The Ministry of Education and Science also emphasised that implementing the decision will require no additional funding from Ukraine's state or local budgets.
