United to win: EU approves €6.1bln for Ukraine to buy drones and PAC-3 Patriot missiles
Under the European Commission's decision, Ukraine will use the 6.1 billion euros to buy drones and PAC-3 interceptors.
He noted that the decision officially enables Ukraine to procure US-made PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems.
Kubilius explained that the package funded under the Ukraine Support Loan includes five derogations from standard eligibility conditions:
The official emphasized that the EU has now fully allocated all 28.3 billion euros earmarked for Ukraine's defense funding this year under the support loan.
"All 28.3 billion euros allocated for this year to finance Ukraine's defense through the Ukraine Support Loan are now agreed," Kubilius stressed.
Meanwhile, the European Commission is preparing the next payout for Ukraine.
Earlier, reports indicated that the European Union agreed to purchase 3.2 billion euros' worth of Patriot missiles for Ukraine.

Rubryka previously reported that Ukraine asked the Dutch government to release over 2 billion euros in promised future aid now to acquire these missiles. Russian attacks continue to target not only military facilities and energy infrastructure, but also shopping centers, department stores, and other public locations.
EU High Representative Kaja Kallas urged member states to supply Ukraine with the required interceptor missiles, suggesting countries could transfer munitions approaching their expiration dates.
On August 24, the European Commission approved 6.1 billion euros in new defense procurements for Ukraine, targeting air and missile defense systems, missiles, ammunition, radar stations, and other essential equipment.
Reports also revealed that the European Commission sent a proposal to member states to use frozen Russian assets to finance a new 140 billion-euro loan for Ukraine.
Additionally, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that Germany will transfer PAC-2 interceptors for Patriot systems to Ukraine directly from Bundeswehr stockpiles.
The UK will also direct 100 million British pounds (around 116 million euros) to Ukraine in a new military aid package featuring air defense equipment, Patriot missiles, heavy artillery shells, and drones.
