Trump Believes The Strait Of Hormuz Could Soon Lose Its Current Significance
Donald Trump believes new pipelines and overland routes through the Middle East could reduce the world’s dependence on the Strait of Hormuz, and that this waterway will lose its current significance for world markets in the near future.
The American leader expressed this view to journalists in the Oval Office of the White House, UATV English reports.
“The Strait of Hormuz is now facing a lot of alternatives. The Strait of Hormuz isn’t what it used to be,” Trump said.
According to him, new pipelines are currently being built in the Middle East, and fairly large-scale transportation of oil by cargo trucks across Syrian territory has begun.
“Iran, if it doesn’t get smarter — and it really hasn’t shown any signs of smarts, and I’m not sure they’re capable of it — will soon be left with a Strait of Hormuz that won’t be very much needed,” the head of the White House stated.
He also said he doesn’t consider the hostilities between the US and Iran to be a war.
“I call it a military conflict. For us it’s a small thing, it’s not something big,” the American leader said.
As previously reported, US President Donald Trump believes the United States has brought Iran under control, as it previously did with Venezuela.
