Russia's war has killed thousands of Ukrainian defenders who gave their lives for the country's independence and freedom. Ukrainian society faces the urgent task of building a strong culture of remembrance so that the names, stories, and sacrifices of fallen soldiers do not disappear from public memory.

On August 29, Ukraine honors the memory of its fallen defenders. As part of this day of remembrance, thousands of Ukrainians join the national "Table of Remembrance" campaign, reserving symbolic empty tables in public spaces to honor those who will never return and to give people a place to write down the names of defenders they knew personally.

To take part officially, representatives of brands and institutions must complete three simple steps:

All officially registered locations will be added to the campaign's shared interactive map, which the organizers will publish a few days before the event. This will allow visitors to easily find a memorial in their city.

The initiative has also been recognized at a high public level. The project received significant recognition: "Table of Remembrance": the Ukrainian defenders' project was included in the Responsibility Award 2024 list.

Last year, more than 3,500 locations in Ukraine and another 16 countries around the world joined the "Table of Remembrance" campaign.

Background

In memory of her fallen husband, Mariia Hrabar created the Illia Hrabar Charitable Foundation, which aims to provide comprehensive support to children in education, culture, and sports. The organization is currently actively helping the younger generation.

Mariia Hrabar launched the campaign to honor fallen defenders in 2023. The Illia Hrabar Charitable Foundation and the "Memorial" remembrance platform run it.
