Russia launches another mass attack on Kyiv, killing and wounding residents
Before the attack began, the military recorded the takeoff of several Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers from the Olenya airfield in Russia's Murmansk region. Russian forces also launched Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea. At the same time, attack drones targeted Ukraine from both Russian territory and the Black Sea.
After 1 a.m., the Air Force reported launches of cruise missiles from Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers. The military warned that Kyiv faced the threat of ballistic and cruise missile strikes and urged residents of the capital to immediately go to shelters and remain there until the all-clear signal.
At 2:05 a.m., the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, reported the partial destruction of a residential building in the Podilskyi district.
According to the mayor, debris also struck a 21-story residential building at another address in the Podilskyi district, causing partial damage to the third and fourth floors. Debris also fell on the territory of a garage cooperative.
In the Holosiivskyi district, fires broke out in a five-story residential building, on the territory of a non-residential development, in a warehouse, and in an open area.
Later, Tymur Tkachenko reported the consequences of the attack in the Darnytskyi district.
It later became known that fires broke out in residential buildings at four locations in the Podilskyi district because of Russian shelling.
According to city authorities, the attack on Kyiv killed seven people and injured another 24. Fourteen of them were hospitalized, including two children aged 7 and 8.
Searches for victims are currently continuing.
In the morning, Vitalii Klychko reported that debris had struck a 25-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district on the fourth floor. Rescuers evacuated 22 people from the building. They also found two people dead.
At another address in the Darnytskyi district, a fire broke out on the 23rd and 24th floors of a 30-story residential building. Evacuation of residents is ongoing there.
In addition, in the Obolonskyi district, authorities recorded a fire in a warehouse building and a strike on the territory of a non-residential development.
In total, at least 15 residential buildings in Kyiv sustained damage and destruction.
Currently, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, says Kyiv has 46 known casualties, including five children, while nine people have died.
Background
It should be noted that on the night of July 2, Russian forces carried out one of the largest attacks on Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The occupiers used attack drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles in the strike.
Six employees of the Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine were injured in the Russian attack. They remain in moderate condition. In total, according to Kyiv police and the State Emergency Service, the number of injured reached almost 100, while 31 people were killed.
Russia's massive combined attack caused large-scale destruction in the capital. Authorities recorded damage and destruction at more than 30 locations.
