Ukraine retains 23rd place in Worldsteel rating by volume of steel production in Q1

This is stated in the message of the Ukrmetalurgprom association, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

According to him, according to the results of production in the first three months of 2024, Ukraine took the 23rd position among 71 steel-producing countries with a result of 1.69 million tons, up 36.6% year over year.

The first place traditionally belongs to China: Chinese metallurgists smelted 256.55 million tons of steel in Q1, down 1.9% year over year.

China's share in world steel production is 54.9%.

The second place belongs to India (production increased by 9.7% to 37.3 million tons), the third place to Japan (it decreased by 0.8% to 21.5 million tons), the fourth place to the United States (it decreased by 1.6% to 19.9 million tons), the fifth - russia (decreased by 0.2% to 18.7 million tons), the sixth - South Korea (decreased by 2.5% to 16.2 million tons), the seventh - Germany (increased by 5.8% to 9.7 million tons), eighth – Turkiye (increased by 28.4% to 9.5 million tons), ninth - Brazil (increased by 6.2% to 8.3 million tons), and the tenth - Iran (increased by 16.3% to 7.6 million tons).

World steel production in the first quarter of 2024 amounted to 469.06 million tons, up 0.47% year over year.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukraine took 23rd place in the Worldsteel ranking in terms of steel production in 2023.
