Man Utd transfer news: Manu Kone and Carlos Baleba strongly considered in search for third midfielder signing
Roma's Manu Kone and Brighton's Carlos Baleba are two options who are being strongly considered by Manchester United as their search for a third midfield signing continues.
Sky Sports News has previously reported United's long-term interest in Baleba, and despite his struggle for form last season, he remains of interest to Michael Carrick's side.
It is understood the club have made movement in revisiting a potential deal for the 22-year-old this summer, but no official club-to-club contact has been made yet, and a compromise around the player's valuation would need to be found.
Roma's Kone is viewed as an alternative target, with the Italian club's demands not expected to be as high as Brighton's for Baleba over a potential transfer fee.
Man Utd have tentatively explored what a deal could look like for the France international, who largely impressed at this summer's World Cup.
Sources in France have told Sky Sports News that despite Kone attracting attention from clubs around Europe, United are currently leading the race for his signature.

However, Sky Sports News understands any suggestion of a move being imminent for the 25-year-old is premature.
Man Utd are not in a rush to move for either midfielder just yet, with the duo part of a long list of midfield targets as the club continue to determine the best option to pursue, while also looking at other areas to reinforce the side.

Sky Sports News reported earlier this week Man Utd target Alex Scott turned down a new Bournemouth contract.
The Cherries have made Scott a number of offers since discussions began towards the end of the season - but it is believed he has indicated he is not currently willing to agree new terms amid strong interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd.
Marco Rose's side do not want to sell the talented midfielder, who has entered the final two years of his current contract, and have already knocked back inquiries from the Premier League trio.
United, Chelsea and Arsenal are believed to remain the frontrunners for Scott, who travelled to the States with the England squad ahead of the World Cup, while other clubs are also keen.
Bournemouth expect Scott to remain their player next season whether he signs a new offer or continues on his current deal.
