After being demolished 3-1 by Brighton at Old Trafford over the weekend, a trip to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League likely couldn't have come at a worse time for Manchester United.

With manager Erik ten Hag under increasing pressure to deliver, it's been a poor start to the season for United overall, suffering their worst start in the Premier League for years but a return to European competition could perhaps prove a welcome distraction.

That said, Bayern have started well in the Bundesliga, sitting joint-top after four match days alongside Bayer Leverkusen. They drew 2-2 with Bayer last time out but had won their three league matches prior to that latest result as they chase yet another German top-flight title.

A major part of their success this campaign has come in the form of new striker Harry Kane who has hit the ground running by hitting four goals in four league outings so far for the Bavarians and will be keen to add to that on his Champions League debut for the club.
