Putin not considering energy truce with Ukraine – Kremlin
Peskov claims that Russia seeks a complete end to the war rather than a temporary ceasefire.
He also emphasized that fully resolving the Russo-Ukrainian war is impossible without the participation of representatives of the Ukrainian authorities. At the same time, Peskov did not clarify specifically whom he meant when discussing the need for decision-making.
"Someone there has to make a responsible decision," the Kremlin spokesperson added.
Separately, Peskov commented on statements by Finnish President Alexander Stubb regarding efforts to end the war. Earlier, the Finnish leader reported that during a meeting of representatives from Ukraine, the US, and European countries in Norway, participants developed new ideas for a peaceful settlement. According to him, these proposals were planned to be passed to the Kremlin for review.
Stubb emphasized the need to maintain diplomatic efforts despite daily losses caused by the war.
"In my experience, peace requires patience, but unfortunately, war does not wait. People die every day. Our task is to do everything possible to end this. And I think today became a step in the right direction," the Finnish president stated.
However, the Kremlin did not evaluate his words positively. Peskov stated that repeating a general European position on Ukraine "is unlikely to make a constructive contribution to a settlement."
