Zelenskyi: Trump decides to grant Ukraine licenses to produce Patriot missiles
The president also announced that Ukraine had agreed to a delivery package of Patriot air defense missiles.
"Today we agreed, I won't say with whom, on a package of missiles for Patriot systems. This is an important decision," he said.
Separately, he noted that the Ukrainian team conducted 20 meetings with world leaders during the UN General Assembly.
On September 22, following a meeting with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Zelenskyi mentioned asking the Americans for a winter package of interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
Beyond the United States, Kyiv discussed this issue with other partners, including Middle Eastern nations.
Background
On July 13, speaking in Paris at a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, Zelenskyi confirmed that he and President Trump had reached an agreement on Patriot system licenses, calling it historic.
On July 22, Volodymyr Zelenskyi revealed that Ukraine and the United States had begun discussions on the joint production of interceptor missiles for Patriot surface-to-air missile systems.
US President Donald Trump later noted that the United States had not yet given final consent to transfer Patriot missile production licenses to Ukraine, despite earlier reports suggesting potential support for such a move.
On September 2, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that Washington and Kyiv were continuing negotiations regarding a license to localize Patriot missile production in Ukraine.
