Ancient Buddhist grottoes in Xinjiang to open to public

Dating from the fifth to the 14th century, the Kumutula Grottoes in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region will open to the public in October, local authorities said. This was reported by The Xinhua News Agency. "It will be the first time for the Buddhist grottoes to open to the public since they were discovered. Based on the preservation status of the caves, we plan to open 12 grottoes at the beginning", – said Miao Lihui, deputy head of Kizil Grottoes research institute which administers the Kumutula Grottoes.
