South Africa vs Australia, third Test: Josh Inglis hits second Test century as Temba Bavuma's side take narrow lead
Josh Inglis struck his second Test hundred as Australia took control on day three of the third Test, with South Africa holding a 40-run lead for the loss of four wickets in their second innings at Newlands.
It was a scintillating day of Test cricket at Newlands, with Pat Cummins' side taking a 100-run lead after the visitors were bowled out after lunch for 429.
Alex Carey and Inglis pushed the visitors in front with a fifth-wicket stand of 185, with the latter being dismissed by Simon Harmer for 102 runs off 135 deliveries.
A patient Temba Bavuma ground down Australia's pace attack, after Aiden Markram (1), Marques Ackerman (62) and David Bedingham (11) were all removed inside 28.2 overs.
Bavuma showed his composure to hold the crease, making 35 runs off 115 deliveries, before Nathan Lyon struck a huge body blow five minutes before stumps, removing the captain with a beautiful off-spinner, to leave South Africa 140-4 at the close of play.
