Isack Hadjar to miss Italian Grand Prix with wrist injury as Liam Lawson gets another Red Bull opportunity at Monza

Isack Hadjar will miss this weekend's Italian Grand Prix due to his ongoing wrist injury, with Liam Lawson replacing him for a second consecutive event at Red Bull.

Hadjar suffered the injury while boxing in training during the summer break last month which forced him to miss the Dutch Grand Prix and he has not recovered in time for Monza.

With Lawson stepping up to be Max Verstappen's team-mate at Red Bull, Yuki Tsunoda will have another chance to impress at Racing Bulls.

Red Bull only made the decision on Wednesday afternoon to give Hadjar every chance to drive but medical staff have decided he should miss another event and hope to return for the following race in Madrid next weekend.

"Liam will drive alongside Max at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, while Isack continues to make encouraging progress following the wrist injury sustained during the summer break," said Red Bull.

"The team is closely monitoring his rehabilitation and will take no unnecessary risks with his return to competition and wishes him a speedy recovery."

Hadjar is eighth in the Drivers' Championship and team principal Laurent Mekies thinks the Frenchman has been Verstappen's closest team-mate for several years.

Red Bull are yet to confirm Hadjar will stay at the team in 2027 but the 21-year-old's performances likely mean he will keep his seat.

At Zandvoort, Lawson impressively qualified only one tenth behind Verstappen and finished the Dutch Grand Prix in seventh - a complete contrast to his two Red Bull outings at the start of 2025 before he was dropped.

Tsunoda also had a strong weekend at Racing Bulls as he finished just outside of the points and was ahead of full-time driver Arvid Lindblad.
