Jackson Hastings: St Helens captain given three-game ban for violent conduct that could end his season
St Helens captain Jackson Hastings' season could be over after being handed a three-match ban for violent conduct following his sending off in their win over Castleford Tigers on Saturday.
Hastings was dismissed in the first half of the 36-12 victory after punching Castleford's Tyler Dupree, who was sin-binned for the same incident.
Commenting on Hastings' dismissal, Castleford director of rugby Chris Chester told Sky Sports: "Scott Murrell just jumped (in the way of Dupree). We all know the rules, you can't punch people in the face."

The win keeps Saints' play-off hopes alive, though they are currently on 28 points and seventh in the standings, one place outside of the play-off positions with three games to go.

It means that should they fail to leapfrog one of Hull KR (sixth, 30 points), Leigh Leopards (fifth, 32 points) or Wakefield Trinity (fourth, 32 points) down the stretch, Hastings will have played his last match of the season.
Current Super League leaders Leeds Rhinos, as well as Wigan Warriors - tied on 38 points but with an inferior point differential - and Warrington Wolves, two back in third, have already qualified for the play-offs.
