How much money did Rose Zhang win with victory in LPGA Tour debut?

Rose Zhang made history at the Mizuno Americas Open this weekend, becoming the first woman to win her LPGA tour debut in 72 years.

Zhang, the 20-year-old reigning NCAA champion from Stanford, had a difficult Sunday that ultimately ended in elation. She entered the day with a two-stroke lead, but missed the chance to extend her lead on the final three holes and ended up in a sudden death playoff with Jennifer Kupcho.

Zhang, however, saved par on the second playoff hole to ultimately come away with the victory.

In addition to winning her debut, Zhang is the first player to win the NCAA individual national title and an LPGA event in the same season, per CNN.

Zhang finished at 9-under 279 for the weekend, tied with Kupcho before the playoff for the victory. That was after shooting a 2-over 74 on the final day following a 3-under 69 the day before.

What did Zhang earn for her troubles? The Sporting News looks at how much the collegiate star turned pro made in her debut.

The purse for the Mizuno Americas Open is $2.75 million.

That purse was distributed between the 62 players who made the cut, with Zhang naturally earning the largest sum.

Zhang got $412,500 for her victory, $155,956 more than runner-up Kupcho.

Wichanee Meechei, who finished 62nd, made $6,741.

Zhang signed an NIL deal with Adidas in 2022, becoming the first NCAA athlete to do so.

Zhang was already part of Adidas' elite junior program, so Adidas gear was already a mainstay for the star. However, because Stanford is represented by Nike, this weekend was the first time many fans saw her rocking the stripes instead of the swoosh.

Zhang's portfolio is expansive. She also signed deals with Callaway, American Express, Uswing Sunglasses, and Beats By Dre, among others.

Now that she is a professional, Zhang is an official ambassador for Adidas, rather than having an NIL deal.
