In a year when players arguably have less incentive than usual to play at Wimbledon, organisers have announced a considerable increase in prize money that makes it among the most lucrative of all four Grand Slams for its winners. After the All England Club imposed a ban on Russian and Belarusian players because of the war in Ukraine, it was confirmed that no ranking points would be awarded at the tournament. Some players have suggested the decision is demotivating, while others, including two-time champion Andy Murray, have reasonably argued that few players or fans focus on ranking points in the main draw of major tournaments.
